لُغَةُ القُرانِ Level 1, Unit 2: I love my family

After introducing his family in the first unit of this curriculum, Yusuf then describes his family members using Quranic adjectives such as صَادِقٌ ، مُؤْمِنٌ ، رَحِيمٌ etc. The adjectives are in singular masculine form to lay the foundation for their plural form (as they are in most cases in the Quran) in later units.

The unit starts off with sentences showing how the adjectives are used, with an english translation of the new vocabulary at the bottom of the first page. The next two pages are exercises to re-enforce the usage of the vocabulary, to learn how to change masculine adjectives to their feminine form as well as learning how to ask questions such as “Is Yusuf a boy? Yes, Yusuf is a boy. Is Khadeejah a man? No, she isn’t”.  The grammar point of how to change masculine adjectives to feminine is explained in visual form to simply show HOW without confusing the learner with technical grammar jargon. After all, our aim is to help you use the Arabic language correctly without confusing you with the linguistics of the language.

After the introduction of the new vocabulary and the opportunity to practice them in sentences, comes a list of the ayaat (verses) from the Quran showing where the new vocabulary appears in the Quran, challenging the learner to remember their meaning. The new vocabulary, grammar point and question format are summarised with english translation of the vocabulary used. The answer key for the exercise in the unit is on the last page.
